About:
Carter's Gunning for Trouble

Carter Brittany Kennel's Carter's Gunning for Trouble is sired by Carter Brittany Kennel's NGDC NAGDC FC AFC Peter Gunn, who made Brittany breed history in 2009 as being the first dog to hold both the National Open and the National Amateur Gun Dog Championship titles.  He remains the only dog to have won both national championship titles in the first year. He was also awarded the National 2010 Magnum's Masked Man award for having the highest amount of gun dog field trial wins/placements/points of any dog in the country.  Peter Gunn made history again in 2012 by winning the National Tri Tronic's Top Shooting Dog Award and becoming the first dog in the history of the breed to have been awarded every National Gun Dog/Shooting Dog Title and Award provided. To this day, he remains the only dog to have accomplished this tremendous accomplishment and remains one of the top performance Brittany gun dogs of all times.  Pete also has other national gun dogs placements and championship wins - one of the most notable was the 2012 International Brittany Shooting Dog Championship title  and the 2012 International Brittany All-Age RU Championship title.  In 2011 he bested the field and claimed the title at the all breed Southeastern Continental Breed Shooting Dog Championship - he is only the second Brittany to ever win this championship title.  Pete is dually registered with American Field/Field Dog Stud Book and has also won four American Field Championship titles- therefore further making him a 4x American Field Champion as well.  Also, early in his career he also had several National Shoot To Retrieve Association (NSTRA) wins/placements and also has several conformational show ring placements.   NGDC NAGDC FC AFC Peter Gunn remains one of the most talented and decorated, consistent and well rounded bird-dogs the Brittany breed has to offer with an outstanding lineage of highly talented and proven dogs.  NGDC NAGDC FC AFC Peter Gunn is from Carter Brittany Kennel's litter by NAFC FC AFC Walker's Gunner and Carter Brittany Kennel's AFC Bullet's Renegade Miss Megan.

The mother of the litter, Carter's Gunning for Trouble, was whelped by Carter Brittany Kennel's
NAGDC-RU GFC FC AFC Nothin' But Trouble, who is a hard running, no nonsense, exciting shooting dog to watch on the ground and is forward  moving with a ton of drive and stamina.  She began competing in adult stakes in 2014 and qualified for both the open and amateur 2015 National Championships, despite being limited to competitions of the extreme southern states.  At the 2016 National Gun Dog Championship GFC FC AFC Nothin' But Trouble brought home 3rd place National Amateur Gun Dog Championship.  In 2018 Trouble was awarded National Amateur Gun Dog Champion Runner Up and received the National Perpetuator's Misty Skye Award for being the top female at the National Gun Dog Championship in 2018.  She has extremely excited us with multiple hour stake wins and championship placements against some of the nation's top dogs.   She proudly carries her national awards and placements as well as her AKC Grand Field Champion, AKC Field Champion, and AKC Amateur Field Champion titles.   Carter Brittany Kennel's NAGDC-RU GFC FC AFC Nothin' But Trouble's sire is 2xNAGDC DC AFC Clyde's Double Trouble.   He is the winner of both the 2005 and 2007 National Amateur Gun Dog Champion titles. Throughout his field career he has 48 total placements in AKC and/or American Field sanctioned field trial events.  He was named the LaSalle Brittany Club 2005 Gun Dog of the Year and the Heart of Illinois Brittany Club's Adult Field Dog of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2009.  He was named Field Trial Clubs of IL 2005 Open Gun Dog of the Year, 2005 Open Walking Gun Dog of the Year, 2006 and 2009 Amateur Walking Gun Dog of the Year.

If you are interested in reserving a dog or puppy from our kennel please complete the questionnaire below for approval purposes.

If you have completed the puppy questionnaire/application and you are ready to reserve one of the premium puppies from this litter, we will require that a deposit be made to reserve the puppy your choosing until the puppy reaches 6 weeks old.  Please review our deposit policy via the link below.  Deposits can be made via Venmo, Applepay, PayPal, or by mailing in a check.  We will provide instructions through private communications after receipt of your puppy questionnaire.

How We Raise Our Puppies Ensures an Easy Transition To Their New Home

Providing exceptional love, care, and support through each milestone as puppies grow is the hallmark of our breeding program.   It is extremely important that puppies are well socialized and are exposed to the joys of bonding with people from the very start.   Our socialization program is veterinarian lead to ensure they are fully prepared to mentally handle the transition of leaving our family and joining yours.

As a veterinarian owned/operated kennel, we take great pride in ensuring our puppies get the very best start to life by beginning socialization of our puppies on the day of their birth.  We build a strong bond with every single puppy prior to their ears and eyes opening so they experience the tenderness, love, and care the human touch provides before they can see and hear us.  We earn their affection and trust in the early developmental stages through bottle feeding once a day so they are drawn to us in the same way they are drawn to their mother through feeding.  We get them accustomed to being held in our arms, tummy up, to communicate human dominance, rub their feet so they are not touchy in this area as they grow to make nail trims easy as they mature, and gently open and close their mouths so any future medication dosage is not a battle to be won. We massage their ears to make cleaning time simple and efficient and talk to them to get them used to our voices.  At approximately 2 weeks old, their eyes and ears finally open and their hearing and vision becomes sharper with every passing day.  At 3.5 weeks old, their teeth begin emerging and they slowly learn to stand and walk. We begin them on a premium quality food at this age as nutrition is the foundation of a healthy dog.  As they continue to grow we expand their horizons and introduce them to a wide variety of sounds and situations so they transition easily to their new homes when the time comes.  Puppies are released to their new homes between the 7.5-8.5 week old mark, which is determined by the age of which the litter hits specific milestones and also when the mother is fully ready to ween them.  We always let nature take it's natural course and we will not release puppies until the mother has decided it is officially time for her babies to be without her.  Together with the mother, we will make this determination ourselves and we will not be influenced by new owner's schedule demands.  It is important that we listen to the mother and follow the mother's lead and not the requests of the new families.  When the mother is ready to ween them, she no longer requests to visit them and no longer allows them to nurse.  Puppies are introduced to the basics of crate training, bathing, nail trims, and how to heel (stay with us when walking) in preparation for your preference of collar/leash or harness training.  At the time of release, puppies will be nearing the age to be mentally ready for the early stages of puppy training.  Please keep in mind that our voices and our environment is completely different than your voice and your home and environment.  When taking a new puppy home, you will need to allow time for the puppy to adapt to their new surroundings and be patient and understanding with them as they have never met you and have never been in or around your home.  To them, you will be a completely new person that they have never seen, heard, touched, or licked.  They have only been with us at our home and we are "their people." You will need to show them how you wish for them to behave as they slowly learn your voice and the commands you are wishing to teach them or remind them of that they learned while they were with us.

Pedigree is extremely important, no matter what your aspirations are for your puppy.  Our litter pedigrees are full of champions in the early generations of the puppies which helps guarantee their soundness, as people do not spend vast amounts of money to campaign dogs in events that aren't healthy or have difficulty learning.  We have planned this exceptionally high quality litter with expectations of producing highly versatile puppies that will succeed in any environment and activity.  Our focus is on producing elite quality hunting dogs that heavily bond with their humans, are incredibly intelligent, highly sensible, biddable, and are able to adjust their energy level to different situations.  Our puppies are extremely easy to train with an eagerness to learn which makes everything from housebreaking to learning specific commands fun for all.  These important features are the foundation of a superior quality dog that will succeed and be satisfied doing whatever their people enjoy doing - whether it is training for hunting competitions or companion plantation hunting, agility events, conformation events, service/therapy animal needs, or a constant, well-mannered companion for neighborhood walks, snuggling by the fire, or catching up on your favorite television show on the sofa.  Of all the hundreds of different dog breeds on the planet, we can't imagine owning any other breed than the Brittany for our family.  One dog can meet the individual needs of each and every one of us and it is remarkable how versatile they are.

We strive to find the right family for each puppy, which includes an evaluation of the temperament, attitude and energy level as well as physical qualities to ensure the best home for each puppy.  Puppies come with a complete 26 month health guarantee against genetic defects. Our sires and dams undergo breed specific health tests that they must meet and/or exceed prior producing a litter of puppies.  All dewclaws will be removed, tails will be docked, and they will be up to date on all vaccinations and dewormer.  We do ship puppies within the continental United States via airline at the age of 8 weeks old.  Prices do vary depending on the airline used.  We generally fly puppies out of the Atlanta, GA (ATL) airport and generally are able to secure direct flights to most locations.  If we are able to use Delta or American Airlines, all-inclusive pricing for airline transfers are $515.00 which includes booking, health certificate, airline approved travel kennel, food and water bowls, plus the airfare.   We are also able to arrange for ground shipping for door-to-door transportation.  Ground shipping costs will vary by location.

When you are ready to take the next step and move forward with our kennel for your next four-legged family member, we kindly ask that you compete the puppy questionnaire/application that can be accessed using the link above or through the contact us drop down menu.  If you have difficulties locating the application please feel free to contact us for assistance.  We do accept early deposits in the amount of $100 to be added to the reservation list for first selections upon the birth of the litter.  We also accept deposits in the amount of $250 (or) up to 1/3rd of the total puppy cost for available puppies that have been born until they are ready for homes.  We will respond to your puppy questionnaire/application with complete deposit details and additional information and details should you be approved for purchase.
