We expect for all breeding females to be current on vaccinations (Rabies, DA2LPP-CV, and Bordetella) prior to their arriving for breeding purposes.  
If your female has fleas, ticks, ear mites, or if we see worms in her stool, we will administer a veterinary prescription flea control, ear mite medication, or dewormer medication to treat the condition.  Flea control, ear mite medication, and deworming medication is not included in the price of stud fee and will be the responsibility of the female owner.

For live cover breedings, we do require the female to have a negative brucellosis test.  We will not allow the male to breed the female prior to receiving a negative brucellosis test.  If your female does not have a negative brucellosis test at the time of her arrival, we will perform one for you.  It does take 24-48 hours to obtain the brucellosis test results.   Please note that brucellosis testing is not included in the price of stud fee and will be the responsibility of the female owner.

 

Please note that stud fees are payable in full at the time of service, prior to the female leaving our care, unless other arrangements have been made
for payment.  If a puppy is to be taken in lieu of stud fee, there will be no stud fee due at the time of the female's departure from our facility.

 

For LIVE COVER breedings, if the female fails to whelp a litter of puppies, we will offer a return service free of charge within one year.  If the original stud is not available,  you may choose to breed to another one of our stud dogs.  If you choose a stud with a higher stud fee for the return service, you will be responsible for any difference in price for the return service.   If the ownership of the female changes, rights to return of service will be at our discretion.  Please note that one live puppy at the age of 8 weeks old constitutes a litter.  If there is only one puppy, we will cancel pick of the litter choice if we originally agreed to a puppy instead of stud fee.  The stud fee amount as quoted will be required instead.

 

If a puppy is to be received instead of a cash fee for stud services, we will make our choice at 7-8 weeks of age.  ALL puppies from the litter must be present when we make our choice. The rights to our choice of our pick of the litter puppy is not affected by change of ownership of the dam.

 

Please note, we under no obligation to sign the AKC paperwork for litter registration until the stud fee is paid in full, or the stud puppy is in our possession.

Transportation of the female to and from the stud dog is the responsibility of the female owner. Any & all fees incurred in doing so are also the responsibility of the female owner.  10 days of boarding are included with stud fee.  A boarding charge of $12.50/day will accrue after the 10 day period.

While in our care, your female will reside at Carter Veterinary Clinic and be hand walked for the duration of her visit. However, we will not be held responsible or liable for accidental death, illness or injury while she is being transported to or from us, or while she is residing in our care.  Should your female fall ill during her stay you will be responsible for medical expenses.

For FROZEN SEMEN breedings, please note that all of our studs who have frozen semen available are no longer living.  As a result, ALL frozen semen has limited, non-renewable quantities.  Frozen semen pregnancies are not guaranteed and we do not offer a return service in the event of a failed frozen semen breeding as there are MANY factors that play into the success of a frozen semen breeding.  We have an extremely high success rate with frozen semen pregnancies at the veterinary clinic we own/operate when Jim performs the surgeries.  Our high success rate is the result of skill and experience using the methods we have found to work.  If you would like for us to perform the frozen semen breeding please contact us for pricing and preparation needs to make success more likely.  If we are performing the frozen semen breeding, it is important that we are contacted on the first two days of your female swelling or bleeding due to coming into heat.  Frozen semen breedings are not a last minute breeding option.  You will need to prepare in advance to ensure success.
